Hadiths for the Beginning of Ramadan
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said:
When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained.
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1899]
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said when the month of Ramadan began:
Verily, this month has presented itself to you. There is a night within it that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it has been deprived of all good. None is deprived of its good but that he is truly deprived.
[Sunan Ibn Mājah 1644]
In another narration, the Prophet said:
On the first night of the month of Ramadan, the devils are chained, the jinn are restrained, and the gates of Hellfire are closed and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. A heavenly caller announces: O seeker of good, come near! O seeker of evil, stop short! Allah will save them from the Hellfire and that is during every night of Ramadan.

Praying at Night in Ramadan (Taraweeh)
Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said:
“Whoever establishes prayers during the nights of Ramadan faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards (not for showing off), all his past sins will be forgiven.”
[Sahih Al Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 2, No 37]
Entering Jannah Because You Observed Ramadan
The Prophet said,
“There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it.”
[Sahih Bukhari Vol. 3, Book 31, No 120]
Expiation of Sins from One Ramadan to The Next
Abu Huraira (RA) reported the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
“Five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadan to Ramadan are expiations for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins”
[Sahih Muslim Book 2, Book of Purification, #450]
Dua for Laylatul Qadr
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘annee
Aisha radhiya Allahu `anha, that she said:
“O Messenger of Allah! What if I knew which night Lailatul-Qadr was, then what should I say in it?”
He said.
“Say.- (Allahumma innaka ‘affuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘annee.) “O Allah You are The One Who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me.”
[at-Tirmithi and Ibn Majah with a Sahih Isnad]
